Ukraine and US Move Closer to Mineral Agreement with New Memorandum

Ukraine and US Take First Step Toward Mineral Agreement

Ukraine has officially announced the signing of a memorandum with the United States, marking the first step toward a comprehensive mineral agreement focused on the country’s valuable natural resources. The deal, which has been strongly promoted by former US President Donald Trump, aims to strengthen economic cooperation between the two nations.

Originally scheduled for February, the agreement was delayed after a tense Oval Office meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, according to Reuters. However, diplomatic efforts have since resumed, and both parties are working to rebuild relations and advance mutual interests.

“We are pleased to announce the signing of the memorandum with our American partners,” stated Yulia Svyrydenko, Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy.

This memorandum is expected to lay the foundation for a broader economic partnership, including the creation of an investment fund to support Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts. The progress toward a mineral agreement comes as Ukraine continues to seek international backing amid ongoing conflict with Russia.

Trump indicated that the final mineral agreement could be signed as early as next week, though Ukrainian officials have yet to confirm a timeline for completing the full deal.
